About Probiotics

Probiotics are the ‘good’ bacteria that outcompete ‘bad’ bacteria in the gut and help establish a healthy microbiome.

They are naturally present in fermented foods such as yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, etc. However, not all foods labeled as probiotics on the market have proven health benefits.

Potential Benefits of Probiotics
1. Supports digestions and absorption of     nutrients.
2. Supports immune system.
3. Makes vitamins and nutrients we need          that our bodies cannot make.
4. Can help reduce allergies.

Mixmi's Probiotics

We add 6 live and active cultures to our milk which is then perfectly fermented until there are over a billion cultures per serving.

Mixmi is tested for Live & Active cultures using the International Dairy Foods Association testing methods and standards.

Bifidobacterium BB-12®

The Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, BB-12® strain is the most documented Bifidobacterium in the world. The BB-12® strain has been described in around 400 scientific publications and supported by more than 200 publications describing studies in humans. Through scientific investigation, BB-12® has been associated with benefits in the areas of gastrointestinal health and immune health. The BB-12® strain has been tested in a range of people, from preterm babies to the elderly, and across several health areas.

Lactobacillus acidophilus

Isolated in the 1890's by the Russian Llya Metchnikoff who was the first to research and show that L. acidophilus plays an important role in our digestion. Research in recent decades has indicated that supplementing with L. acidophilus can aid our digestion and also help treat diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and leaky gut syndrome.  It may also reduce lactose intolerance and increase our absorption of calcium and B vitamins.  L. acidophilus may even improve appetite.

Bifidobacterium lactis

Bifidobacterium lactis are well studied probiotic bacteria. Scientific studies have indicated that B. lactis supports immunity, fights tumor growth, improves digestion and can lower cholesterol.

For healthy people, Bifidobacterium naturally inhabit the intestines & the colon in great numbers. Generally, their job is to break down body waste & aid in the absorption of various vitamins & minerals

Lactobacillus bulgaricus

L. bulgaricus is a beneficial bacteria found in the digestive tract of mammals.

L. Bulgaricus is one of the first strains ever studied. The Russian Nobel Prize winner, Ilya Mechnikov, first isolated Lactobacillus Bulgaricus around 1882 when he discovered the bacteria's role in beneficial digestion.  Even though L. bulgaricus is not considered a probiotic in the United States, it has been studied and shown to have health benefits.

Streptococcus thermophilus

S. thermophilus is a powerful culture that is often found in the colon and can have digestive, immunity and other health benefits.

S. thermophilus is commonly used to make cheeses and yogurts. This culture also produces lactase which can help people digest milk more efficiently.

This culture also produces antibiotic chemicals which can help to prevent infection from pneumonia and C. difficile.  It can also help prevent ulcers.
